| My "good looking" head |
[Apr. 8th, 2009|02:20 pm] |

At this point, the good news is my brain MRI has confirmed what I suspected all along: my brain is normal and healthy. My neurologist declared the "films" as showing a "good looking" head, but the question about what occurred last January may never be solved at this point. I have been given a tentative bill of health and a wait-and-see diagnosis.
I am back to driving my man around and working in the garden, soaking up all the warm spring sunlight and enjoying its effect on daffodils that seem to have taken forever to bloom. Bruce is digging a trench to lay a new phone wire in the front yard and has made even more progress with cleaning out the container at the back of his property. Each weekend the neighbors either shake their heads with surprise of all the things he pulls out of there or nod their heads in approval of the spring cleaning.
Today Bruce donated some wood he found while doing renovations to the museum next door. They were very pleased to discover the name imprinted on the wood "weiss brothers" are the same land owners who built the brick two story business building on the corner of Vashon Highway and Bank Road. Vashon is infused with history. |

| Domestic Partnership gives me hope for a better future. |
[Sep. 16th, 2008|10:24 am] |
Ever since Washington State instituted registering for domestic couples, including same-sex relationships, Bruce and I have been considering registering our relationship. It would allow us to advocate for each other as well as other benefits. Last month Bruce proposed to me, I said "yes" and we plan to hold a commitment ceremony next year about the same time here at our home on Vashon. This has given Bruce some extra motivation to complete renovation on the house and he has been making good progress. Here are some pictures of the progress:

| In Memoriam...Jodi Kleiman 199?-2007 |
[Apr. 6th, 2007|02:42 pm] |

Today about 2:30pm Bruce's dog Jodi passed away. We are going to miss her generous and loving nature. She brought much joy to our lives and we will greatly miss her companionship. She came into Bruce's life ten years ago from a Breeder of Australian Terriers. She'd been a breeding and show dog before, but as a companion she had perhaps the best years of life. Bruce took her everywhere with him and cared for her as he would a child. In the few years I knew her, she crawled into my lap and my heart and never let go until it was time. Then she sweetly left, knowing that even in the spring when all the world is coming alive from winter's frost, it is still a good time to let go of the past. I think I'll go cry by her grave now. |

| New Job |
[Aug. 3rd, 2006|01:43 pm] |
I haven't been as active on-line lately due a part-time job I recently took. The local Post Office was looking for a custodian and I seemed to fit their needs. I'm working most mornings five days a week and holidays (even though the post office is closed, they do have workers on site). The majority of the work is just housekeeping duties: dusting, cleaning toilets, mopping and emptying trash cans.
This is a good situation for me because my afternoons remain free and I'm most active in the afternoon around here. My intention is to write in the afternoons, which I'll probably do in the winter, but for now I've been doing gardening. Also, I'm meeting more people who live on the island which has been difficult otherwise.
I have noticed that inkshadow has left LJ rather abruptly and although I appreciate his forthrightness, I can't help hope he is alright. If anyone reading this has heard from him please let me know. |

| Prince Albert free again... |
[Feb. 24th, 2006|08:17 pm] |

Today we adopted a cat from Vashon Island Pet Protectors. He seems to be a Persian mix of some kind but without the flat face. He has an extremely pleasent disposition. Jodi, our Aussie Terrier was not too well behaved, perhaps because Bruce usually tells her to chase after cats, but we are attempting to introduce them slowly. I think they might be the best of pals soon. He is adapting to the house pretty well, first checking out where the rats have been coming in from the outside, then assuming space under the couch in the living room.
He was picked up as a stray although his house manners and immediate friendly manner suggest he could be just a wayward kitty. He's welcome to stay here until then or indefinately as situations deem. He is neutered with a good disposition and seemingly healthy constitution; about four years old. |

| More astrology on the Internet... |
[Feb. 7th, 2006|11:28 am] |
I'm going to run out of stuff to post here regarding astrology soon and then I will have to talk about other stuff but until then here is another webpage I've been reading lately:
http://pisces-chronicles.blogspot.com/
Pat Paquette is another astrologer/journalist, like Eric Francis (previous entry), but she still lives on Vashon and I had the chance to meet her last fall through Carol McCloud [this turns out to be wrong, I met someone else and only thought it was Pat. Sorry, was my imagination was working over time and exaggerating reality]. I think she makes some good points on her blog and reading her writing helps round out some of the work on Planetary Waves. |

| Astrology again... |
[Feb. 6th, 2006|10:16 am] |
Just a quick note today about more readings on Astrology. I've found the following web page to be very interesting and currently, should annual astrology be of interest, there is a unique offer until sometime tonight. The author, Eric Francis was a Vashon resident at some point in the past although currently he is living in Paris and posts regular photos to his "blog". Enjoy!

| Moving notes |
[Jun. 27th, 2005|11:04 am] |
Just a quick note in reference to a previous post about moving to Vashon, as well as news to anyone who might care:
Bruce and I moved the last of my belongings out of storage and into the garage last week. This is a step in the right direction, partly because I've patched a $56/month hole in my finances and I soon will have access to my books which has been difficult over the past year. With the completing of the day room/breakfast nook adjoining the kitchen we now have more room in the upstairs office where we've placed the grey metal file cabinet so I have a place to store important paperwork. Bruce has agreed to set up my roll-top desk in the main entryway so I will soon have another place to sit and work, right now I've been enjoying sitting at the table in the day room. Our goal is to reclaim the living room for living and the dining room for dining again, because they have been used for storage all winter. There is a lot of organization to do because Bruce has lots of items he intends to place on Ebay currently in the living and dining rooms, which will have to be boxed, organized and stored in the garage until as such time we sell them. Oi!
Meanwhile I'm working on my novel playing around with the outline so that I will have a goal with my writing. If you are interested in finding out what I'm doing here I'm happy to share. I'm looking for continuity issues and reality checks. Also, I'm looking for objective criticism from people unfamiliar with Science Fiction and Fantasy stories, so if you care about what I write and don't think Science Fiction and Fantasy is your game I still want your opinions and advice. I have to say I've never been more excited about my writing than I am right now. Ciao! |

| Homemaking |
[Jan. 25th, 2005|03:44 pm] |
I've been very busy attempting to sort and organize the house with Bruce. I've been harping on setting up my flatbed scanner to scan paper paraphernalia for Ebay and Bruce worked with me this morning and we got it all set up! What a sweetie! We've been posting a lot of stuff on Ebay. Anyway, there's been a bit of business over the past two months and now with the weather so balmy I've been itching to spend more time outside. I hope to put up more garden pictures, but right now plants are still in their winter clothes. Perhaps in a few weeks I'll have some pictures of things blooming.
The old news doesn't have a lot to do with me but I thought I'd mention it here for anyone who's curious. Right after the first of the year Bruce became very ill and on seeing his Doctor was admitted to Swedish. Turn's out he was mainly dehydrated from a lower gastric condition. Once he'd been re-hydrated and was back to his feisty self, Doctor Tom released him from the hospital. There haven't been any relapses since and I'm very happy he is back to remodeling the house. BTW, he put in a new floor in the upstairs bathroom. Yeah! No more falling through the floorboards. |

| All moved in and nowhere to go... |
[Dec. 2nd, 2004|05:04 pm] |
I handed in my keys on Monday about 5:50, bidding the El Capitan adieu. It was odd seeing the apartment with the recently [last February] painted orangy-pink walls all exposed. Same kind of oddness that I've been experiencing coming into Seattle for classes. No longer can I count myself as a denizen of this fine metropolis, and yet I've only moved my belongings across the water. Somehow my heart still lingers between the tall buildings and somewhere along the streets. I can say it brings me some sadness that I will no longer be able to chart the changes on the street. But this move feels right.
Bruce and I moved the last of my belongings into the storage locker we rented today. Although there are some things I've brought to the house, for the moment most of what I own is contained in a 6x10x10 square and I plan on reducing that as much as possible. If I hadn't needed to move so quickly I would have taken more time to dispose of it all.
Oh well, the Vashon thrift store will get a new infusion of foreign clothes and furniture. Ebay is the potential spot for the rest that has remaining value. In between, I hope to scrap and bind the bits of paper that I tend to collect into scrapbooks and blank journals for resale. What is left are chotckes and nick-nacks that may have to be incorporated into curio boxes a la Joseph Cornell, something I've always wanted to do as an art project. |

| Moving day |
[Nov. 15th, 2004|12:46 pm] |
Since my computer crapped out last week, I've been putting off what I was working on until now. It is official. I've given my notice at the El Capitan Apartments and I'm moving to Vashon Island. I'm working to pack while attending classes which doesn't leave me much time for everything else, but somehow I will do it.
There is a lot to think of with this move and I've been processing ever since I made the decision to move. Fortunately, I don't have too much stuff to move and the only issue that has been weighing on my mind is getting rid of my mattress which should be easy to dispose of at a transfer station. I just have to figure out where that would be.
Please contact me through this post if I haven't given you Bruce's number on Vashon. I'm not moving that far away so I'd like to extend an invitation to everyone. Please come out to the Island for a visit. The house is getting winterized and usually is pretty comfortable.
Anyway, I'm off to school this evening in the city (my ferry is due at three). Drop me a line before you come out for a visit. *gasp* There, I said it all. |
