Double Bloom Daffodils
Photobucket

Every year since I've planted these bulbs they have bloomed and then immediately the next day flopped over. I got one good shot of these before they flopped, but now two are down. I guess they need something in front of them to keep them supported. Hmm. You can see more photos of daffodils in bloom (non-flopped) by clicking the photo link.

Flopping flower: permission to pick!

These are fuller even than other "doubles" I've seen before. Very nice!

You could get some of those little wire supports that they use for orchids... though I'm not sure--outside in the breezes, even that might not be enough.

I was waiting to pick them this morning and they are lovely in the kitchen. You are right, I haven't seen them bloom with such profusion before. As far as support, I was thinking of a compatible planting. I have an annual chrysanthemum that has worked around other daffodils, but these double blooms are right out my back door and I don't want them covered up. I will have to do more experimenting.

Happy Easter, Purple! This garden is for your enjoyment! Psycho Bunny has a long history, I'll have to tell it to you sometime when you visit.
