My "good looking" head

At this point, the good news is my brain MRI has confirmed what I suspected all along: my brain is normal and healthy. My neurologist declared the "films" as showing a "good looking" head, but the question about what occurred last January may never be solved at this point. I have been given a tentative bill of health and a wait-and-see diagnosis.

I am back to driving my man around and working in the garden, soaking up all the warm spring sunlight and enjoying its effect on daffodils that seem to have taken forever to bloom. Bruce is digging a trench to lay a new phone wire in the front yard and has made even more progress with cleaning out the container at the back of his property. Each weekend the neighbors either shake their heads with surprise of all the things he pulls out of there or nod their heads in approval of the spring cleaning.

Today Bruce donated some wood he found while doing renovations to the museum next door. They were very pleased to discover the name imprinted on the wood "weiss brothers" are the same land owners who built the brick two story business building on the corner of Vashon Highway and Bank Road. Vashon is infused with history.

The not knowing why is a tad unsettling, but congratulations on a clean MRI.

I've been in Seattle 11 years and have yet to make it to Vashon. One day I'll have to take the ferry over and do some exploring.

Marie, you are most welcome to visit. May and June are the best months to see the garden in full bloom. Vashon is small but there are reasons to visit.

Thank you, Simon. Heh, I would like to think I never left happiness, but have always been estranged from normality; yet you make a good point, I have been unhappy with all the abnormal goings on. Now I feel I have a chance to regain equilibrium.

good news! I'm glad for your good looking head :)

And as long as it never comes back, I suppose one can live with not knowing what it was.

I have enough hunches that I am satisfied for now that whatever it was will not return for a time. Thank you!

Good news indeed. I wonder if you'll ever find out what that was all about...

I have to be pragmatic and be grateful I am no worse for wear despite the uncertainty. Thanks!

Your new head

Years ago, I wrote a little poem about someone who was acting like he had just gotten a new head and was trying
out its expressions. The picture of the inside of your head made me think of that.
Glad you're doing better and your garden is doing well!

Ah, you ought to post it on your LJ! I love poetry about brains. I mean to post more garden pictures this weekend. I'll post a link here for you.

Somebody who knows both of us is playing with voodoo dolls. There's a post about my recent adventure on my page.

I certainly do not believe that to be true...voodoo is about something else entirely...

Hello! Thought I'd stop by to ask how you are doing (and if you're medical problems have stabilized)?

I was talking with a friend last weekend who told me how she recently had to call an ambulance for one of her friends when she found him walking in endless circles in his house. She knew this person well enough to know he never used drugs and that the behaviour he was displaying was very bizarre and out of character. His speech didn't make any sense and he was very incoherent, clearly something serious was amiss. After the ambulance collected him and he was taken to the hospital, it turned out to be severe hypokalemia - his potassium levels were close to none. They kept him in to to treat his electrolyte imbalance and run some tests, and was released upon recovery 3 days later. Apparently he is doing well now.

It made me think of your experience.

It's astounding what an impact a vitamin/mineral deficiency can be to our system.

Yes, I take a daily vitamin regimen just to be safe. The most likely culprits are the cholesterol lowering medication I stopped taking before the incident, the alcohol I was drinking (even though it was a minor amount), the pot I was smoking, and the amount of water I was drinking (more than normal). The hypokalemia likely resulted from the diuretic effects of the various substances, the warm environment of the cabin and the flushing of my system with water.

All the same, a good diet and avoiding too much of anything is what I believe has kept me healthy and sane since then. Thanks for checking in with me.
